Weeds are monsters and they sprout out everywhere and grow really, really fast. So fast that it won’t take long after that first trimming that you would actually need to trim again. And if you are still using garden shears, then you are fighting a losing battle my friend. For weed and grass trimming, you would need to shun that garden shear and move on to a weedeater.

The Toro weedeater line comes with both electric and gas powered models. The Toro Curved Shaft Gas Trimmer is one such model which gives you the power and flexibility for trimming virtually anywhere. This Toro weed eater sports a curved shaft that curves downward allowing for easy holding of the trimmer because you do not have to position it in an awkward way.

Like most trimmers, this one uses plastic trimmer line or cable to cut weeds. This trimmer features a Dual Line Bump Feed Cutting Head. It all sounds complicated but it is rather simple in principle. The cutting head has a spool of plastic wire inside that is fed out two holes, opposite each other which act as the blades. The wires obviously wear out after a while. They will eventually break or cut so that you need to advance the line a bit more. You do this by simply bumping the under part of the head while the engine is running, this part is like a switch. It’s very easy to use and is a very good function which saves you a lot of time from replacing blades like on other grass trimmers.

Now we get to the heart of the machine. The driving force for this Toro weed eater is a 25.4cc, 2-cycle full crank engine which provides more than enough power for home use. It is also energy efficient so that you probably won’t exceed 3 -5 gallons of gas use each year.

The emissions from the Toro weedeater engine are compliant to all state regulations but still you have to be careful of all emissions. This is because you will be operating it very close to your body in a stationary state. Wearing a mask is not required but highly recommended.

Electric weed eaters are good, giving you a powerful tool for weed trimming. The motors are electric so you get a very quiet machine, but the big downside is the power cable. It will not allow you to be very mobile and therefore limited by the length of your extension cord. Sometimes you will not be able to trim your whole yard and its quite frustrating to find out that you just ran out of cord when you were about to finish those last few yards.
